Maintaining a spiritual mind - Love is stronger than hate...

Today I got a phone call from my wife to say that her dad had been badly
beaten up on his own drive way by a 17 year old lad who was working in a house over the road and her mother also assulted.
Bill is 70 years old with a heart condition as well.

His crime...?
The workers had parked accross his drop pavement and  he asked
them to move their truck as his son was due home and would not be able to
get on his drive. Not only that he was hit while he had his back turned to
the lad.

Some times its very hard to maintain a spiritual mind when things of this
nature do happen, I for one find it very very hard, even more so when you concider its now 7pm and the attack hppened 5 hours ago and the police have not even attended.

We live in hard times and love will always be stronger than hate but boy
is it hard.

Six lads from the rifles my old regiment lost their lives over the weekend, two were just 18 years old. Fellow brothers in arms. we may not or our children may not wear a uniform to protect our country or carry a rifle into a combat zone. however we should be proud of those who do and who have. The flag is to the patriot what the cross is to the christian.

SWIFT AND BOLD

An old lady in my neck of the woods died this week.
It was not known that she was worth a fair bit of money and she had no loved ones to leave anything to.

THIS IS WHAT SHE DID...

The wee town had about 400 souls living in it and because they were all
so nice to her over the years she included all of them in her will. It
will be read soon and some will be left large sums of money, some pictures
and furniture, others it may be a bottle of wine, no-one will go
without a gift of some kind from her.

I THINK IN THIS WORLD OF GREED WE LIVE IN AND HATRED ETC,  THIS IS A STORY
WELL WORTH TELLING OF A LITTLE OLD LADY WHO SHOWED SUCH SPIRIT AND LOVE FOR A WHOLE COMMUNITY.

Beltane

On Friday 1 may myself and my friends of the shared vision coven went to our sacred site to celebrate Beltane, which is one of the grand sabbats celebrated between April 30th and may 1st and marks the return of spring.

It's regarded as a fertility rite to ensure the fecundity of animals and crops during the coming seasons. Some may call it rood day or rudemas.

The night was quite warm and what I loved was the fact that I have never seen so many wild ponies and there young there in a very long time.

This was also special to me as I received my 2nd degree initiation into Wicca.

In Wicca Beltane is a rite to celebrate the sexual union or marriage of the goddess and the god, according to some the HORNED GOD, CERUNNOS ACCEPTS HIS PATERNAL AND MARITAL RESPONSIBILITIES IN RESPECT TO THE GODDESS..

At the end I was given a very nice Indian necklace, which along with all my things I will surely treasure.

Love and Light

Happy Ostara

March 21st is OSTARA in the the wiccan wheel, it's name comes from the Teutonic lunar goddess EOSTRE.

Around this time we celebrate the renewal of spring and nature and the forthcoming of the summer, both light and darkness in balance and of course the light growing stronger as the days go on. Both masculine and feminine forces are in balance again...

This is a time we think about renewing things in our lives, be it friendships or starting new things, learning new things etc etc.The fields are again turning green and the flowers are coming forth with the newness of spring as the green goddess and the lord of the green wood walk the land and spread their abundance so that we can delight in it again.

HAPPY AND BLESSED OSTARA TO ALL...

Imbolc Celebration and The White Wolf

Friday night, a week later than normal, on 6th of Feb my friends Dave and Jacs met up again in the New Forest with Maria for Imbolc Celebration.

It was a moon lite night and with the snow on the ground it seemed for me, to be a magical night. We were bless before we started the ritual by a number of wild ponies which almost we thought were going to come into the circle. They were attracted by our cauldron I think, they came close stopped a while watched us and then headed off into the snow again.

IMBOLC is normally celebrated on January 31st through to 2nd February and is a greater sabbat in the wiccan year.

We celebrate the middle of the season of the long nights comming to and end and the looking forward to the season of light again and rebirth. The goddess nurtures her young son and its almost time for the young lambs to be born signing in the spring etc.

New begginings ,new growth and we plant the seeds of our hopes and dream for the this new year.

As usual bread and ale was taken at the end and each of us had written on a piece of paper something they wished for in the coming year ahead and put it into the cauldrons fire looking into the flame and thinking on it.

Maria gave us all a small snow drop as well.

Blessed be and the blessings of imbolc on all.

Blessed Yule

One of my best friends Jacky from Phoenix Paranormal gave to me a gift this xmas of a celtic pendant with a white wolf upon the stone, its truely very nice and im very honoured that she thought of me and i'd like to say thank you very much and show her how special this is on my page.

On my journey I have made many friends, many have been for short periods and then they go their own ways for what ever reasons,it maybe that this was destined in some way and that we both had to connect in this life for what reason only perhaps the gods may know.

In some cases as with life it may indeed be the case that friends drift back into our lives at some later date also, again this is for a reason to learn from us or it may be us to learn from them.

It is yule time as I put this together and its a time for me to reflect on this last year and the year ahead, to think of both the good times and the
not so good times and to learn from the both.

I want to take time to thank all my very dear friends for their support and love and most of all their friendship which mean the world to me. While material things are nice as indeed my lovely wolf pendant friendships will last for me an eternity.

To the Croc and the Wise Owl I owe you so much may we always walk together till the last breath.

Jacs ,Dave, Maria blessed be the power of 3 )0( Angel Pete ^0^ namaste.

Thanks to all....

Samhain - A Personal Journey

The fields are bare, the leaves have fallen from the trees, and the skies are going grey and cold. It is the time of year when the earth has died and gone dormant. Every year on October 31, the Sabbat we call Samhain, presents us with the opportunity to once more celebrate the cycle of death
and rebirth. For many Pagan and Wiccan traditions, Samhain is a time to reconnect with our ancestors, and honour those who have died. This is the
time when the veil between our world and the spirit realm cross paths.

This year I was honoured and invited to the new forest area with some friends of mine and by a very dear friend of mine to her coven for 1ST
degree initiation. it was a very cold night and the stars were the brightest I have seen in a long time, the roads were full of the wild ponies that live there and the deer were also seen by myself and others which for me made it a special night.

While I won’t go into detail of the ceremony I would like to put to paper the oath which I have given and for me means a great deal.

I CATHALL WOLF IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MIGHTY ONES, DO OF MY OWN FREE WILL
AND ACCORD, ASK THE GOD AND THE GODDESS TO DESCEND UPON ME THIS NIGHT IN
ALL YOUR RADIANT POWER.

I ASK THAT YOU CLEANSE MY HEART AND MY MIND. ENABLING ME TO HEAR AND SPEAK
THE TRUTH, I PROMISE TO SERVE THE GODDESS AND REVERE THE GOD.
I WILL GUARD THAT WHICH IS SHOWN TO THE CRAFT FROM THE UNWORTHY.

I DO AND I SHALL ASK THAT WITHIN THIS SACRED CIRCLE, I WILL EVER BE AWARE
OF THIS DAY THAT MY LIFE MUST BE TO THE SERVICE OF THE GODS. MY SOUL HAS
WANDERED IN DARKNESS, SEEKING THE LIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE AND I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT
I HAVE ENTERED UPON A PATH WHERE I SHALL FIND THE LIGHT.

I PROMISE TO FOLLOW THIS LIGHT AND TO SERVE THE GODS FOR THE GREATER GOOD.
ALL THIS I SWEAR BY MY HOPES OF FUTURE LIFE WITHIN THE OLD WAYS OF
WICCA, MINDFUL THAT MY MEASURE HAS BEEN TAKEN: AND MY WEAPONS TURN AGAINST
ME IF I BREAK MY SOLEMN OATH.

After this we honoured those who have passed to the summerlands by a samhain ritual, where those that wanted to could speak words to their loved ones passed over.

I greatly enjoyed this night and my love and appreciation to all those present.

So Motte It Be.

The Wiccan Rede

Bide within the Law you must, in perfect love and perfect trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.
For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.
Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again.
Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.
Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.
Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight.
Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.
Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.
Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.
Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.
Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.
As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.
When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.
Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned one rules.
In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.
Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.
Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.
Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

These Eight words the Rede fulfill: "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will."

Charlie, My Faithful Collie

Whilst walking out with Charlie my faithful collie and observing the leaves starting to change and indeed some are beginning to fall already I am reminded that we are fast approaching MABON pronounced 'MAYBON'...................

This is the 2nd harvest festival to be celebrated, some may know this also as the autumn equinox. This is the time for collecting the crops and harvesting vegetables that grow within the earth and of course celebrating in their eating.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people have fruit trees in their garden but do not partake in using them for eating or cooking or making wines etc..

Apples will make of course a great cider, corn can be eaten with a knob of butter and can represent the sun which we know will soon be shinning not so long as we head into winter time, and of course fruits can be made into
jams.

Personally every year I collect slowberrys and make slow gin for Yule time. Also around this time we look to the past year and what has happened in our lives thus far and we can begin to
plan the up and coming New Year which is fast approaching.

I like at this time to keep my altar looking nice with flowers which may still be in bloom and leaves and plants that show the changes which are upon us.

Incenses for this time of year which can be added to your altar are.......

Frankincense, Myrrh, Sandalwood and Agarwood, burn them in time of the waning moon.

Blessed Be

Mountains, Hills and Forests

My places I love to be and I can be found are the mountains, hills, forests the plains rivers lakes and streams for to me these are special places sacred places and magical places.

Others may seek their wisdom in magazines and papers and books etc, my wisdom is obtained from the cries of the birds and the howls of the wild and the sound of the rain and the wind within the wood etc. for me these are my cathedrals and the places I feel both welcome and safe within.

For me there is real magick in where the old ones keep their secrets of the ages.
It's true books do contain powerful words and verse but trees contain wisdom that books cannot or never will.

Things that remain changeless outlive spirit but things which evolve and continues to grow shine on for centuries.

Some people are so busy living their lives etc that they fail to notice what is around them, they fail to notice the seasons and the sounds and the
smells of the outdoors throughout the wheel of the year.

There is so much outside the home and the t.v and the playstation etc so I think we can all benefit by actually going outside and listening and
watching what is around us.

Old Churches

I love old churches and often will stop off and take a walk in one and around the churchyard, although Wiccan I can still admire such places and don't forget that often as not they were built on pagan sites anyway. A few years ago I began (and its not finished) to write a book of the places i've been too with pictures and history of the church, indeed you may learn much from the graves of those who lie within her walls and the cemetery. This is a poem I wrote after such a trip.......

Church Yard

THE CHURCH YARD BATHED IN QUIETNESS
RESTFULL AND PEACEFULL
BENEATH THE SOIL LAY THOSE WHO HAVE TOILED.

ONLY TO END THEIR DAYS,
AS SLEEPING FORMS
BENEATH THE RAYS OF SUNLIGHT.

FLOWERS MARK THE GRAVE OF ONE MOST LOVED
WHILE OTHERS UNMARKED,
NOT EVEN A HOME FOR THE DOVE PIRCHED UPON THE TREE.

ALTHOUGH BLOWN BY WIND AND STORMS
THE CHURCH STILL PROUD STANDS HER FORM
TO SOME A REFUGE FROM PAIN AND DISTRESS
ITS THE CHURCH YARD THAT I LOVE THE BEST

Ghosts

And the rain was there...
there were many nights...
and a few of them were all you dreamed of.
love was the thing...
you feel someone following you...
but you know you are wrong.

It's just the ghost of what you want to be
and the ghost of the past you lived in,
its the ghost of what you really want,
and the future your frightened of...

So you look to your guardian angel.
some of them are here on earth...
but some of them are way up there in heaven...

Im tired of waiting and closing my eyes,
im asking why are my horizons so far away.?
alone again its always the same.
been marking time since the day i was born
with no one to blame.

The love of a woman
the needs of a man
I try to belive but dont understand.
the candle is burning
its way down low
I need someone to show the way to go.

A heart full of sorrow paints a lonely tapestry
a stray dog howls when lonely in the night
and a man weeps when tired of this life.
lonely hearts  paint lonely paintings.

Ode to the Oak

To Wiccans and Pagans the oak is a very strong symbol and for me represents my protection with its roots buried deep into the ground and it is strong and proud...

Ode to the Oak

TALL STAND THE OAK
IN ITS STRENGTH AND HEIGHT
ITS STANDS ALL DAY AND INTO THE NIGHT.
BENEATH HEAVEN NATURE AND CLOUD
STILL STANDS THE OAK STRONG AND PROUD.

DO TELL THE TALES OF PAST YEARS
OF ALL MANS HOPES AND ALL MANS FEARS
FOR WE HAVE BEEN BETRAYED BY TIME.
AS DEW IS DRAWEN UPWARDS
AND RAIN TO DECEND,
YOU HAVE SO MUCH HISTORY
AND KNOWLEDGE TO LEND.

AS YOUR GROWTH LINES ENCIRCLE
WITH TIME AND SPACE
WE, ARE BUT MORTAL
AND CAN NEVER KEEP PACE.
